On October 31, 2017, the rap scene was shook up by the unannounced album by rappers, 21 Savage, Offset (from the trio called Migos), and Metro Boomin (Producer). The album has ten amazing tracks and it totals 33 minutes and 22 seconds. Each song has a different melody that ranges from a slower pace like the song “Still Serving”(Track #9), to a more upbeat note such as in “Ric Flair Drip” (Track #3). The different songs relate to different experiences the trio has had. This album was well executed with unique twists and styles.
21 Savage, the main artist on the album, is known for his mixtape such as “Savage Mode” and his recent album called “ISSA.” He also appeared in 2016’s XXL Freshman cover which is a magazine cover that features new up and coming rappers every year, alongside other new rappers like Lil Uzi Vert and Kodak Black. Lately, he has put out many top hits with this album being his most recent release. Offset is an accomplished rapper in his own rap trio called Migos. He has been in many chart topping songs including, Bad and Boujee, Slippery, and Fight Night. Producer, Metro boomin has been an established a name for himself by appearing in famous albums such as: Gucci Mane & Young Scooter – Free Bricks, Gucci Mane & Young Dolph – EastAtlantaMemphis, and Gucci Mane – Trap Back 2.
There are two songs on the album that have been marked as “potential hits” according to Genius.com. These two songs are “Ghostface Killers” and “Ric Flair Drip,” they are some of the most upbeat songs with great rhymes and lyrics. The songs are both sitting in the top 10 on the billboard for hot music with “Ghostface Killers” at number three and “Ric Flair Drip” at number ten. Both songs have all three members in them. Rapper, Travis Scott is featured on “Ghostface Killers.” Track #1 I predict that there will be more songs on the billboard top 50 list, they just need time to develop.
Overall, the album was a complete hit. The fact that it was a surprise release added to the awe. The songs were high quality with varying lyrics and the beats were well mixed by Metro Boomin. 21 Savage has received a ton of praise because he has produced hit after hit this year including “Rockstar” with Post Malone. The album will definitely be a complete hit and will be heard all overthis season. Hopefully the trio will make more music in the future because this was a sellout mixtape.
