Disney welcomes a new princess named Moana. She will be the first Polynesian princess. Moana Waialiki (Auli’i Cravalho), born on a south pacific island, sails to a far away island. Along the way, she gets help from demigod Maui (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson”). The movie premiers on Thanksgiving 2016.

Cravalho is only 14 years old and in her freshman year of high school. She travelled to Los Angeles from her home in Oahu, Hawaii, to audition for the role of Moana. When she received the call from Disney and was told about her role, she was ecstatic. It will be exciting to see her in her first role in a movie. It will also be interesting to hear Johnson sing in the movie.

Although Disney has not released an official trailer, Disney Animation has released concept art of the characters and Moana’s island. There was also a song from the movie preformed at D23, an annual Disney convention. Moana will be the 13th princess and the 57th Disney animated movie.
