Riverbend High School has a variety of bright minds and talented individuals. One example of this is the several classes centered around music, such as band, orchestra or chorus. However, there is actually large amounts of musical talent outside of these classes, even some with blooming talents that consistently involve themselves in school activities. Noelle Fiegl is the perfect example of this; using her amazing skills in music (specifically, the Violin,) to further brighten up the school.
Just this year, Noelle was seen as a special feature at Riverbends induction ceremony for National Honor Society students. When asked further about her talent and commitment to music, Noelle stated the following: “from an early age, I was surrounded by music. My mom had us all pick an instrument when we were younger, and we would play music together and sing.”
Noelles experience in Violin doesn’t end there, though. While not being a part of Riverbend’s orchestra, she is a very proud member of the MCYO Philharmonic – a Maryland youth orchestra. Noelle has been a part of this organization since her junior year, considering it her favorite extracurricular activity.
Noelle stated that, “I could tell that this orchestra cared about their music and not just the seat they occupied. The 2-hour drive is always worth it when I get to see my orchestra buddies and we can all collectively experience playing Mahler, Prokofiev, and so many other incredible composers.”
When taking a glimpse back on her journey and those who have aided her along the way, Noelle specifically felt the need to mention her private violin teacher, Mr. Cyncynates. According to her, “he knows when to be a mentor, a tough coach, a critic, a therapist, and a dad” while guiding her through many audition processes, weekly lessons, and daily practice.
While Noelle is an absolutely spectacular student, it is also important to remember that all her success comes from her hard work. Her determination to learn has only influenced her own growth. While this is noticeable in her music, it is incredibly noticeable in other topics as well.
Actually, another thing that Noelle is also very passionate about is science! In fact, her favorite class while a student at RHS was AP Chemistry with Mr. Garrison. She explained that the class “went to the lab really often” and Mr. Garrison “always looked out for every one of his students and gave us everything we needed to succeed in the class.”
Moving on from here, Noelle actually plans to pursue both of these passions. Currently, she wants to attend a 4-year college to study Cognitive Science and Violin Performance. When asked about this further, she stated the following: “I’m applying to both universities and conservatories and seeing where I end up. The end goal is playing in a professional orchestra.”
While Noelle will be incredibly missed by both students and staff, there is full faith in her successful future. She left a lasting impression on Riverbend as a whole, not only through music, but through her ambition and dedication.
As she prepares to leave for college, Noelle also left all those younger than her with some very important advice for their own success:
