Greenhouse Update

If you haven’t noticed there is a greenhouse at Riverbend High School. It is located behind the k wing. A greenhouse is a glass building in which plants are grown by the RHS students and they absorb solar radiation through the glass and heat flows between the two points. When asked about the greenhouse, senior Garrett Minter talked about what plants there are and he said poinsettia were in there because they’re easy to grow. When asked about why we have a greenhouse he responded by saying,”There is an elective plant class that teaches students about greenhouse temperatures and fertilizer and how to grow plants”.Riverbend greenhouse built in 2013 through funds from the Carl Perkins Fund. They are doing a fundraiser for the plants and some spring vegetables this school year.
