NFL free agency, one of the most awaited times in the NFL offseason. This takes place when players who have contracts that end can be put on the market for other teams to pick the up.This year, the official day for the free agency was March 14th.
One of the teams with the biggest moves in free agency this season was the Cleveland Browns. The Browns are known for being mediocre since the turn of the century, but now they are finally looking to be a true threat. With the signings of former Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor, Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry, and former Packers cornerback Damarious Randall, their team is looking to be more of a serious competitor.
Another team that had a great free agency was the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams had a great season last year by making it to the wildcard round of the playoffs for the first time since 2004. During this free agency, the Rams signed former Dolphin defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, former Bronco cornerback Aqib Talib, and former Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters. With this defense, they are looking like a true threat and with Suh teaming up with Aaron Donald, their other best defensive tackle.
The Chicago Bears have made some upgrades to their wide receiver core by signing former Falcons receiver Taylor Gabriel, former Eagles tight end Trey Burton, and former Jaguars receiver Allen Robinson. With all of these pickups, their offense is looking great being led by sophomore Quarterback, Mitchell Trubisky.
Finally, come the Washington Redskins. The Redskins have been a moderately decent team that cannot win important games. However, with the addition of former Chicago Bears linebacker Pernell McPhee make their linebacking core great, signing former Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick was a good move also. Now, their defense is looking pretty good and with the signing of former Seahawks wide receiver Paul Richardson Jr., this gives their offense a deep threat to throw to and puts their offense on the highest level.
This was a great free agency period and one to remember. This is going to be a very interesting football season full of surprises and we will see who will shine the most from free agency.
