Eric Byrd, a pitcher and first basemen for Riverbend’s Varsity Baseball team, signed to play baseball for Virginia Military Institute on Wednesday, October 20 2013. The table was covered with a red, yellow, and white cloth, VMI’s colors, and a VMI baseball hat. Coach Tim Stimmell opened with a few great words about Byrd’s character and career with Riverbend’s baseball team. Eric then thanked Coach Stimmell and Coach Carney, as well as Principal Wright. At 10:25 he signed the Official National Letter of Intent. Most of the Varsity baseball team as well as many of Byrd’s friends were in attendance.
