Fas-Mart Shooting Shocks the Community
On March 8th, at 3:00 in the morning, a robbery and shooting happened at the Fas Mart on Brock Road in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. According to (WJLA), the suspect entered the Fas Mart Store at 11600 Brock Road around 3 a.m. Saturday and pretended to purchase an item, police say. When the clerk turned away, the suspect shot her twice in the head. The suspect got away with an undetermined amount of cash and merchandise. The suspect is described as a white man between 25 and 35 years old. Police say he has a black goatee. He has yet to get caught. The victim, a 32-year-old woman, was listed as “very serious” at MCV Trauma Center. Since then, she has been recovering from several surgeries. While most people who live elsewhere refer to this as an event that happened in ‘Northern Virginia’, this happened in our community. Some Riverbend students pass by this Fas Mart every day, others fill up their gas and get snacks there, some even live in a nearby neighborhood. Perhaps the Fas Mart should be more secure, maybe they should have a better security system. Although the residents of Spotsylvania County have become worried about their well being after the shooting and robbery of Fas Mart, this incident is very rare within the county, and Spotsylvania has an exceptionally lower crime rate than many other counties and cities in Virginia. Hopefully Spotsylvania County’s Sheriff’s Office can find and bring justice to the suspect. Thoughts and prayers go out to the victim, as well as her family, as all of Spotsylvania wishes her a speedy recovery.
