District Debate saw Riverbend High School taking home the first place trophy overall yet again. Although Riverbend Debate moved up to 6A in VSHL like all the sports teams this year, they still placed first overall at districts. Every member that Riverbend took to Districts placed, and there were several students that placed first overall as well. Josh Tarbet, senior, swept the Lincoln Douglass category and took home first place. Brie Boothby and Riley Calicchia placed first overall in the Public Forum category, and Erich Froese and Holly Cole placed second overall. Madison Calicchia and Sarah Patillo took home third in Public Policy. Districts this year were held at Gar-field High School, and Regionals were held at Cosby High School. Additionally, the Riverbend High School Debate Team took second place at the Regional Championships. Michael Donato placed in first place for Model Congress, Erich Froese and Holly Cole placed fifth in Public Forum Debate, and Josh Tarbet took tenth place in Lincoln Douglas Debate. Congratulations to the Riverbend Debate team for an outstanding year once again, and good luck to all the debaters competing at the VSHL State Debate next month.
