LAX at RHS
Lacrosse season is almost finished and it’s leaving just as fast as it came. The JV team is off to a really slow start this season and seems to be struggling as off late. They are looking to end the season on a positive note and prepare for next year. The lacrosse varsity team’s record is 5-6. The Lax team has been waiting for this season for a while and they’ve been working extremely hard to prepare for it. Last year went well for the Bears but it was unfortunately cut short. The ultimate goal for most teams in high school is winning a state championship, and that’s the Bears goal for this season. They trained from offseason all the way to preseason to prepare for their 2016 schedule. Players individually wanted to improve from last year to help their team. Junior Jacob Calabrese said, “I wanted to work on my stick skills and speed for this season.”
New Coach Sean Mack got the team ready this offseason by changing the way the teams trained. He implemented year round conditioning this summer and it seems like it has helped. Junior Kyle Graham said, “The year round conditioning has really helped us.” Another way Coach Mack got the team ready this year was by getting the players in summer tournaments so they could bond and become more of a unit. It really showed in their first game of the season when they battled Massaponax the entire game and ended up winning by a score of 8-6. The Bears only have a couple of games left in the season before the conference playoffs start, and they are looking to go far this year. They’ve been working hard since the end of last year, and are ready to show everyone what hard work does.
