Hardwork, dedication, and time will soon pay off for our beloved celebrities as they take on the 59th Annual Grammys. Meghan Trainor unveiled the contestants for the marquee categories live on CBS, and announced the listing on December 6. The Grammys will air live on CBS on Sunday, February 12 at 8 p.m. ET from the Staples center. Actor, James Corden will be the host the Grammy’s this year.
This year’s Grammy’s contain 84 awards, within these categories there are awards for Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal, Best Rap Song, Best R&B Song, Best Performances, Best Music Video, and a lot of other awards. Beyonce leads the pack with 9 nominations. Drake, Rihanna, and Kanye each earned 8 nominations, and Chance the Rapper picked up 7 nominations. The biggest battle of the year is between Beyonce and Adele for Album of the Year. Beyonce shocked the world with her Lemonade album, which contains the song “Formation,” which is nominated for Song of the Year. Adele brings the heat with her Album Hello, which contains the song “Hello, “which was also nominated for Song of the Year.
Students are really excited for the Grammys. Senior Marissa Clay said, “I’m really excited to see the outfits, all the different designs and looks are super eye-catching.” This year’s Grammys will be one for the books as we celebrate the accomplishments of our celebrities and reward them for their hard work. The Grammys are also a time for designers to get their names out there, as celebrities dress to impress on the red carpet.
