Black Friday and Cyber Monday

As many people know Black Friday and Cyber Monday are some of the busiest sale days in retail and online shopping. These two annual days that happen after Thanksgiving are full of discounts and deals on many items.
Customers will wait hours in lines, push through the crowds, and stand outside in cold weather to wait for stores to open on Black Friday to Christmas shop for their families and themselves. Some stores even open the night of Thanksgiving and stay open for over 24 hours. Cyber Monday is a little less chaotic because all of the sales and purchases are online. On Cyber Monday the discounts for stores are similar to in store Black Friday sales, and often customers receive free shipping on Cyber Monday.
Frankie Argenzio, junior, said that although she prefers Cyber Monday, she went Black Friday shopping at Dicks Sporting Goods, Charlotte Russe, and American Eagle Outfitters to purchase new clothes. Argenzio said, “I went Thursday night with Kierra Baker, and the stores were busy.” Typically the most popular and busiest stores are Target, American Eagle Outfitters, Kohls, Walmart, Macy’s, and Sears due to their great deals and rewards. American Eagle had 40% off their entire store, one of their biggest sales of the year. Olivia Velarde, junior said, “ I did not go Black Friday shopping but am looking forward to going next year.” She anticipates shopping the deals at Target.
Many people shop all through the night from Thanksgiving to Black Friday because most stores only have limited stock and there is no way to purchase the items if they are sold out. This is a great time to shop with friends and family. Although the sales continue to start earlier on Thanksgiving Day, this day full of shopping is a tradition for many people.
