Coming Soon to Theaters

Over the years Pixar has created 15 movies. At the D23 Expo, a biannual Disney convention, that was held on August 14–16, 2015, Pixar announced six new movies set to release through 2019.  Older Disney fans were excited to learn that four of the new movies are sequels. The four sequels are Finding Dory, Cars 3, Toy Story 4, and The Incredibles 2. The other two movies are titled Good Dinosaur and Coco.

Ellen DeGeneres returns as Dory this summer when Finding Dory comes to theaters on June 17, 2016, 11 years after her original role in Finding Nemo was released in theaters. In Finding Dory, Nemo, Dory, and Marlin go on a quest to find Dory’s family. “I want to see Finding Dory because I liked Finding Nemo when I was little,” said junior Chantel Rios. Unlike Finding Nemo, Finding Dory will be set off the coast of California instead of Sydney, Australia.

Although Cars 2 (2011) wasn’t as popular as the original Cars (2006), Pixar is releasing Cars 3 on June 16, 2017. The plot has not yet been revealed.

While Andy is having his own adventure in college, the toys are having their own adventures with their new owner Bonnie. Toy Story 4 is to be released in theaters on June 15, 2018. In Toy Story 4, the toys go on a quest to find Bo Peep who has been given away. Toy Story was the first Pixar movie and came out in 1995. Since then, Pixar has created three sequels, five short films, and a spin off cartoon.  Tom Hanks and Tim Allen will return for their roles as Buzz and Woody.

The Incredibles featured a family of superheroes. The movie ended hinting at the possibility of a sequel. A plot has not yet been revealed, but fans are excited for The Incredibles 2 which will be coming to theaters on June 21, 2019.

Disney Pixar fans across America have a new Pixar movie to see every summer from now until 2019. Some people say that the sequels are never as good as the original. It may be true, but that won’t stop fans from rushing to the theater every summer.
