The whole week led up to Homecoming, and Riverbend High School celebrated with its annual Homecoming Spirit Week.
On Tuesday Riverbend had its first Spirit Day of the week, Zoom Day. Students and Teachers were supposed to come in the comfiest PJ pants and a formal top for work. Students like Sofia Kyser showed up for the occasion in her spirit wear. Kyser expressed how she was excited for spirit week and how she put together her outfit. “It was a cute shirt I had and I love my sweatpants.”
On Wednesday students participated in Adam Sandler Day. Students were encouraged to dress up like Adam Sandler and pull up in their baggiest basketball shorts and their tee’s. Not only did students participate though, so did many of the Riverbend teachers. Safe to say there was a lot of fun had on Wednesday.
On Thursday we had our third Spirit Day, Tacky Tourist. Students and Teachers were encouraged to show up in their socks and sandals and their Hawaiian shirts. English 12 and Photo-J teacher Kelly Feasel went all out for tacky tourist day, even showing up in a floatie. Feasel says she enjoys Spirit Week because “It is fun to watch the reactions of students when I do something silly.”
Finally on Friday the fourth and final day of Spirit Week the theme was Pink Out. Students and Staff are encouraged to come to school decked out in as much pink as possible for breast cancer awareness. Riverbend did not disappoint. Students Tiana Dunkley, Keeli White, Lydia Obeng and Zahira Rose Washington all showed up in their pink gear for Spirit Day. Rose Washington adds that she is excited for the pink out theme and our pep rally.
